You will be asked about this and other questions about your nasal history at the consultation with Dr Patel. It is important to realize that allergies, sinus problems and breathing issues are not corrected by external aesthetic nasal surgery. Dr Patel will refer you to a Ear Nose and Throat Specialist if he feels that your internal nasal structures (septum) require additional surgery. This will be performed at the same time as your rhinoplasty.
All cosmetic surgery has risks. However, these risks are minimal and potentially avoidable with a good preoperative consultation. A consultation with Dr Patel is the best way of assessing your suitability for this procedure. Dr Patel will show you before and after photographs of expected results and will make sure that your expectations are in keeping with what is reasonably possible from a surgical point of view.
It is difficult to wear makeup for at least 7 days after the operation as the splint is positioned directly over the nose and under the eyes
