As we age,  our skin loses its elasticity and the effects of gravity tend to pull in the wrong direction.  This results in loss of youthful volume and harsher features which are classically associated with age such as deep nose to lip lines, sagging jawline and loose and hanging neck skin.  The eyes, ears and nose also age and lend to the overall appearance.  Dr Patel aims to create an overall rejuvenated appearance without the operated look.

Face and necklift surgery restores the youthful contour of a face, jaw and neckline, taking years off ones age.  It is a commonly performed procedure resulting in a natural but youthful appearance.

This surgery is excellent for:

  • Sagging jawline
  • Dropped cheeks
  • Creases around the mouth
  • Loose skin and wrinkles in the neck

An ideal candidate for a facelift:

  • Men and women
  • Most commonly aged between 40 – 70
  • If you have loose skin around the face and neck and are always pulling at your face in front of the mirror, you will likely be ideal for facelift

Sit with a hand mirror in front of you, then lie down and view yourself in the mirror. Notice the difference in your facial shape.

What is a ‘mini’ facelift?

The term ‘mini’ facelift is misleading in that it describes a minimalistic “lunchtime” type procedure.  Surgical facelifts are all operations, though requiring some downtime, give noticeable and lasting results.  The term ‘mini’ simply refers to the areas that are addressed and consequently the extent of the incisions as well the extent of tissue dissection.

How long does a facelift last?

The most common facelift question!  A facelift is a surgical procedure that lasts a lifetime.  However it will not stop you ageing.  Immortality as yet has not been described as an operative procedure.  You will still age but the facelift takes you back 5 – 10 years.

What other procedures can be done with a facelift?

Ageing eyes, loss of facial volume, misshapen noses are commonly addressed simultaneously.  Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), Rhinoplasty (nose job) and Botox, Fillers or Deep Peels are commonly done at the same time as a facelift so that an overall rejuvenation is achieved. Dr Patel has a particular interest in and practices fat grafting.  This is a process whereby ones own fat is harvested from an unwanted area (eg.  thighs), processed and implanted via fine injection techniques to the areas in the face that require volumisation.  The effects of this treatment extend beyond just filling space because the fat particles have a rejuvenating effect on the skin itself.

What happens after the operation?
